Today we tried to go for a spin i the delta on our 2007 Larson 274 with a 496 Volvo Penta engine.
We had the boat serviced last year with a rebuilt outdrive ($2700) and anything else it needed. To our surprise, it would not even attempt to get up on a plane, just bogged down, Didn't die.
It starts right up, idles fine, moves normally in gear at idle and part throttle, goes into reverse no problem.
The engine has less than 300 hours. No carbs to worry about, what gives? I brought it back to our slip, raised the outdrive, no weeds around prop, prop spins freely pushing on it with a broom.
Nothing comes to mind as a possible cause. I'll have to take it out and put on the trailer at the marina, again, unless you guys can suggest something I can do with it in the water. I just can't imagine how such a new boat can rev so freely in neutral, idle in gear just fine, but fall on it's face when given more throttle. All previous post I've read here don't seem to apply. The boat ran fine last time we took it out, but that was last year. I start it up at least monthly, so this is a shock.
We're both experienced boaters, and this is the newest boat we've owned, and the most expensive, so this is a bummer.
