Near afraid to ask but....<br /><br />How many really listen to it? I know we have a host of opionated folks here and I definetly don't want to open a can of old worms.<br /><br />I'm just curious. <br /><br />I think of all the Presidential Speeches, this is the one I really listen to. Seems to catch me up to what the Commander In Chief is thinking and doing.

Re: State of the Union Address

It'll be a good break from all the democratic primary crap that I have been seeing lately. I have to drive by at least 250 Dean, Kerry, Clark and Liberman campaign posters on the way to work, and at least 50 commercials on TV a night for these clowns! The NH primary is next week, so it'll be interesting to see how these unelectable idiots will use what "W" has to say to try to bolster their numbers.

It's always interesting to listen from the "other side" after the speech. Seems like anybody with any political ambitions always seem to us the Address as a stepping stone. Ah well....such is politics.

Of all of the speeches to listen to, this is the one! The Democrats are all fired up, Iraq is still on the front page, GW needs to hit a home run tonite!

Dems will probably lose another one or two "issues" to whine about tonight.<br /><br />I enjoy trying to anticipate the "yabuts" that will come from the opposition after the speech.<br /><br />Always watch, always interesting.

Part of what he will say tonight. <br />Source: http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tm.../20040120/ap_on_go_pr_wh/state_of_the_union_6 <br /><br />
Bush said he was optimistic about the reviving economy and urged Congress to take steps to make sure the recovery lasts. "We must respond by helping more Americans gain the skills to find good jobs in our new economy," the president said.
"America this evening is a nation called to great responsibilities," the president said. "And we are rising to meet them. ... We have not come all this way — through tragedy and trial and war — only to falter and leave our work unfinished."
The president was expected to repeat his belief that marriage should be between a man and a woman but stop short of seeking a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriages. <br /><br />"All of us — parents, schools, government — must work together to counter the negative influence of the culture and to send the right messages to our children," he said.

Re: State of the Union Address

I've only ever noticed posts from two people on this site who don't support Bush. Can it possibly be that polarized? Everyone else thinks the sun shines (EDIT).

I'm writing as I'm listening.<br /><br />If one were to ever have a cynical view about this President, Government or this war in Iraq.<br />One should record this address and play it over and over again...........myself included.<br /><br />This President is the hardest person I've ever listened to, to dislike. And probably will rank as one of the great Presidents.<br />No doubt he inspires.
