Re: Stater/Solonoide Problems???

Oh no,
No water got in I did not notice but the throttle got pushed all the way down and I did not notice so I tryed to start it and it would not start. I meant it got flooded with fuel. Also I though what you thought about maybe it was trying to start so I took the wire from the distributer to the coil of and it still disingages. I am going to buy a new starter.

Thanks Very Much JB, Skiph, Bondo, Fishermark, DHPMARINE, and Denis B.

Ben Hunter

Hey Ben,, I used to live in Xenia for 18 years. Tornado got me. I never got a chance to use the new lakje because it was still under construction when I left. Still have kids and grandkids there. Good luck with your starter problem. Bill in TN

Re: Stater/Solonoide Problems???

My starter did the same. After an intensive use started to make a noise and disengaged. The problem is that the metallic reduction gears run into a plastic exterior gear whose teeth got broken. I could not find any replacement part so I had to buy a new one.

I learned a lesson: If you use the starter for more than 30 seconds, let it cool for about five minutes before trying again. If not, you burn it and you have to buy a new one.

LOL Thanks Bondo.

Also one last question for you. If I put a 4 bbl Holley Marine Carb on my 3.0 OMC would that add any HP or just over carburate it? Or is there a such a thing as over Carburation.

Thanks Very Much Bondo,
Ben Hunter

[/QB][/quote]
I would say more like 5 seconds, then a 30 second cool. 30 seconds way to long. And best to find WHY it won't fire right up first. A engine that won't start is not the starters fault!

Higher compression will get you more torque and horsepower, but you will still be running a marine engine on automotive fuel.
Boats run under heavy loads, idle to full sustained throttle. And stay there.
Pump gas is designed for your car.Try keeping your car at full throttle for the length of your lake.(hope you don't live on a river.)The idea is good, but for us average guys,it won't follow thru.
DHP
