Static line woes and water ingestion.I've been following the thread on this and could use some help...
The boat is a Twin 1987 2850 Bayliner outfitted with 5 liter OMC outdrives. I'm in the process of rebuilding the engines and adding new manifolds and risers. It doesn't look like Bayliner built many twins. With the addition of second motor the boat sits pretty low in the water. I think that the engines had been replaced before so I'm not sure how the boat was setup to start with. I wonder if the addition of some riser spacers (3 or 6 inch) is a good idea. How much height is required from the water line to the bend in the riser anyway? Also how much does an engine weigh with risers and outdrive and all. My guess is about 750 pounds or the weight of 4 good fishing buddies not including the beer. It seems crazy to have a boat where you can only party on the bow. Am I being overly concerned here? Any Comments would be appreciated. Thanks
Rich
