stator keeps failing in 1989 150hp black max xr4

I just replaced the stator on my 1989 150hp Black Max XR4 for the third time in 3 years. The first two times, I had one bank not getting spark. This time none of the cylinders were getting fire. Replacing the stator fixed the problem each time. My question is...What would make the stator keep failing?

Bad rectifier, bad grounding on stator mounting bosses, loose battery cables/selector switches ,heat as seen several in boat docks with this repeat failure due to heat build up under black cowling .
