I have a 1988 125HP Force Motor. I decided to check the stator for corrision. I removed the flywheel. The stator magnetic ring stayed on the stator. My question is..should the ring be epoxied or afixed to the flywheel before installation?

Re: stator magnetic ring

If you mean the flexible magnetic strip that is usually inside the flywheel rim, you can try epoxying it back BUT the glue layer must be as thin as possible. There is very little clearance between the magnet and the stator.

MY 1988 1254x8c also came loose when i got the boat[ that's how I got it so cheap].I epoxied it back in and clamped it with low pressure spring clamps around the circumference of the fly wheel to get an even attachment, works fine to this day[knock on wood LOL] Hope this helps
