Hello all -

I switched off from working on my 1956 CD 13 (5.5 Seahorse) to spend a little time with my 1963 Evinrude 10 hp, which needed new points, plugs, condensors and coils.

Removed both coils, condensors, and breaker points, as per Tom's very clear and helpful web post: http://www.outboard-boat-motor-repa...on 3 HP 1952-1967 Ignition System Tune-up.htm. Took opportunity install newly made spark plug wires and reinstalled new coils. Remounted first set of breaker points with no problems. As I was installing the second set of breaker points, I noticed that its pivot post was a little wobbly, thus the adjustment screw would not pull the points 0.20 wide at top dead center, so I removed adjustment screw out, set point gap and tightned down retainer screw, sort of faking what the adjustment screw would have done. The points don't make real solid contact, but it would get me home, I think, in a storm. It's just not the level of tuneup I'm satisfied with. I removed the stator plate and looked underneath to see what holds the pivot post in. Long story short, is there any hope for a wobbly pivot post or am I going to have to get a replacement stator plate with two strong pivot posts? Thanks all for reading.
