stator question

would I loose charge with a bad stator my stator has on of the larger coils loose and burnt looking seems as it will fall off if it didn't have the retainer holding it on engine still runs fine on a hot battery regulator seems fine not burnt at all last time it went out the regulator was leaking the epoxy inside of it this time it looks like new but the stator seems bad gonna get some pictures and post them of the stator

The stator acts like an alternator. So yes, if its bad your battery will not get charged. You can check it with an ohm meter. Yellow to yellow should read very low ohms. Each yellow to ground shouldn't read anything. This is done with both leads disconnected.
