I have just the stator here on my desk Blk lead on Yellow Red lead on yellow peg the meter Red lead on red wire blk lead on ground wire peg the meter. Red lead on blue wire Blk lead on ground reads 50 Red lead on red wire Blk lead on blue wire read about 35 Red Lead on Blue wire Blk lead on Red wire read about 25. I think this got wacked. When it is hooked up to the switchbox The Blue lead slows between 1 and 2 which I thought was good. Shouldn,t the red and blue on the BLK red lead read between 1 and 2 here on my desk? Anybody remember the test. It,s been over a year. I don,t have a manual Update I bought in the switchbox i just bought off ebay and hooked it up to the stator red and blue wires Blk on ground Red on blue show half way to 1 on the meter Black on ground red on red peg the meter

ID the model motor this stator fits, then we can know which part you have.

1979 70 3 cylinder stator number 398 7904A7 thats the number from merc diagram but ther is a 4 instead of a 7 on my stator. Also I,m using a 1K OHm meter

The # after the 'A' is simply the 'Revision' #, how many changes/improvements have been made to the 'Original' part.

IC thanks it will help me find one if needed Is it better to test the stator hooked up to the switchbox or unhooked. Becuase if i remember correctly. The reading I get when hooked up shows good. But when unhooked shows the oposite

I,ve tested the new switchbox against the old switchbox with an OH,m meter and both show exactly the same readings. I can say for 100% sureness that they are both either good or bad.
