I was wondering if there is a way to upgrade my stator to a higher amp model. I do alot of night fishing and flounder gigging and am running some high power flood and spotlights, If I'm not careful... well lets just say pull starting a 115 johnson sux!!!
by the way I have a 1993 J115TLEIE and I think it only has a nine amp stator.

Re: Stator upgrade ?

Firstly thats the model number for a 1991 model, EI = 91.
(1993 model is J115TLETS)

There is no 35amp stator listed as an alternative for 115 models.

There is for 120 125E and 140 models but is part of an extensive modification including a different flywheel, crankcase head and bearing, and rectifier. In total it costs over $900. Presumably it does not fit the 115 anyway!

How about considering LED lights

Re: Stator upgrade ?

Ok, I forgot the year, its been a while since I checked it.
Anyway thanks for the info, I have been researching LEDS for a while but cant really find any that provide a good lumen per dollar yet and all LED mfrs are a bunch of exagerrating liars when it comes to how bright they are.
I think im just going to get one of those little honda generators and some quartz lights. at least the genny will have another use.
