stator ?

I bought the flywheel puller and a manual. I now have the stator in my hand. Are the ohm readings taken with the stator installed or on the bench?<br />This is a merc 135 hp V6 SN#B314929.<br />Is there anything else I need to know before replacing the stator?<br />Thanks in advance!!

YOU SHOULD HAVE 4 WIRES THAT FEED THE SWITCHBOX ,HIGH @ LOW SIDE.AND DON'T TOUCH THE TRIGGER BASE,UNDER THE STATOR.SET MET TO OHMS X1000 SEE WHAT YOU HAVE.
