i have a 60 hp 1995 merc the marina says the stator is bad, Is it hard to change and and do i need a flywheel puller

Not difficult if you are mechanicly inclined,have the proper shop manual,and the proper tools/equipment.<br />What is the motor doing or not doing??

easy job, steering wheel puller impack gun and I think 1 1/16 socket.to remove stator six allen screw's.good luck. :)

have you check to see if all cylinders are fireing?could be a fuel problem.

Make sure you get the lastest model stator...not old stock. I'm not sure on your size engine but on larger mercs the updated stator is red...old is black. Call merc for details as they are VERY aware of the stator problems...but not publicly.

no fire to plugs got the flywheel off and the stator is black 2 yellow wires 1 red 1 black and 1 blue number on stator is 398-9710A 23<br />number on motor is og138971

SEEMS YOU GOT THE BLACK HOUSING THAT THE ONE WITH THE PROBLEMS. NEW STATOR OR RED STATOR THEY ARE CALLED FROM C D I .www.seilermarine.com MIKE HAS WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR. :)
