Steering Cable Broke

We have a 21 ft center cons Renker 1989. The steering cable broke inside the
red housing, in the starboard corner of the boat, we think. Can the cable part be repair, with welding, or does it need replaced?

Approx cost?

get the number of the the outer sheath and order a new one. being an 89 almost 20 years old, you may be better off replacing the whole system. teleflex.com. research.

Of course I was hopeing for a "cheap" fix.
