Sorry, that was too easy.
There are several styles and lengths depending on how yours is routed.
Square rack, Round rack, Circular....
It is not too expensive to just buy a complete helm and cable either, then you know your helm is tight and functional. The local parts guy should be able to tell you how to measure for the cable. Just remember too short is not good. A little long is OK. Just make sure there are no sharp turns (under 6 inch radius).
Pull your cable out and there should be some numbers toward one end. Either take it in or copy down ALL the numbers and go to the parts guy.
Some cables are marked in feet and some in inches.
