Two questions about the sterndrive end of the new Teleflex steering cable...

1. I got a new steering tube which will thread inside of the locking nut on the cable, but I forgot to get the "wiper nut" for the other end of the steering tube--what part do I need, and can it have a zerk fitting for pumping grease into the steering tube?

2. How do I connect the end of the new cable to the Mercruiser Late Model I sterndrive steering arm? The old cable had a kind of pillow block with a ball joint bolt in it--this seems like a bad idea because it causes slop in the steering (or is it a good idea?). Anyway, I don't think it would fit the new cable. I see all sorts of "engine connection kits", but the Teleflex kit for "all Mercruiser sterndrives" (CA27319P) doesn't make sense to me.

Thanks in advance.

Is this the right wiper nut--no zerk fitting, though.

Teleflex Cable Gard Tilt Tube Seal Nut
Part # SA39329P
Cable Gard Tilt Tube Seal Nut - Teleflex Marine
Installs easily over the tilt tube nut and efficiently wipes the steering cable output ram
Seals out dirt, salt and rust, keeps lubrication in tilt tube

On the connection of the cable to the sterndrive arm--the old ball joint bolt had a cylindrical bushing. It looks like a ss bolt of the same diameter, through the cable end and then through that bushing inserted in the arm hole, with a stop nut like the other bolt had, would probably do the job--how do you guys make this attachment?

Thanks.

Since my dad's boat is down due to a broken cable. The cabel was attached to the outdrive by a pin with a codder pin through it.
