steering cable question

hi<br />i have a 1976 johnson 70 hp<br />the steering cable has what i guess you would call a ball joint where the the cable joins the motor<br />the ball has separated from the cable..this happend when i put on a PT135 power trim and tilt which set the motor motor back from the transom. <br />is there any way to fix this or do i need a knew one?<br />if so.... do you know what i need and where i could get one?<br />thank you<br />Don

We're not really sure what you have. Does the cable run thru the tilt tube and use a drag link back to the steering arm on the motor? Or is the cable mounted to the boat and the cable runs directly to the motor?<br /><br />

Where on the cable is this ball?
