Steering cables are only sold by the foot. What do you do if you need 13' 6"?

You would buy a 14' cable and "Squeeze" it...

Can't cut it, but if it is about 4 feet or more too long you can loop it and it won't affect steering effort. Too tight a loop though and steering effort goes way up. You can also try running it along the port side of the boat (assuming it is not a walk through dash) and reversing the helm so the steering direction is correct. I have done both with good results.

Correct on the loops but Morse-Teleflex recommends keeping them to a minimum, nice lazy S's and no sharp kinks, especially at the helm and engine interconnects.
