Re: steering cable

Are you referring to the cable anchor type that bolts to the transom of the boat blueman? Or the tilt tube type?

The tilt tube is that long pipe just under the front of the lower pan between the transom brackets. The steering ram goes through the tube and is held in place by a large nut. From the end of the ram to the motor takes a steering link.

Have I guessed it right?? :D :D

Re: steering cable

I have a 76johnson 25hp I put the steering cable shift and throttle on tonite. Why do you say it won't work all I need is the cable anchor for the steering and difffrent cable ends for throttle and shift.

Re: steering cable

blueman....the steering cable you can adapt. That should be no problem. But the force throttle and shift cables were made for force engines. The ends do not interchange with other brands unless the control and cables are generics like Tele-Flex which offers different adaptors for some of there cables. Now you go and try to adapt these cables to your engine and you may not only hinder the performance of the engine but you may also be causing a safety concern for control of the engine. You really need a service manual that explains the hook-ups. If the boat your are going to mount the 25 on is rated for a 25 or better, I would see not problem with that issue.

Keep us posted....thanks.
