Might someone be able to explain or direct me to how I might respool my steering cables to the spool on my steering wheel of my '65 HydroSwift? My 5yo nephew was taking a spin around the lake (in his head) and was appearantly running an obsticle course (in his head). By the time I noticed where and what he was up to...it was too late and the cables had totally come off of the spool. :(

Thank ya'll,
Me

Ok, 3 wraps, (or more) of the cable clockwise, and 3 wraps (or more) counterclockwise, both cables exiting the top of the wheel.

My son did the same thing when the boat was being redone.

I still have a crooked steering wheel though. :) Him and his friend were in the boat "driving" and II thought... Hmmm.. with the engine off..... Awww damn.

Fun respooling it. Even more fun replacing al the pulleys, clamps, cables etc.

As long as you understand that one side needs to unwind as the other side winds (and vice-versa) you have this project in hand.
