hello , I have a 1997 Evinrude 90 hp on my boat and I HAVE A BRAND NEW STEERING CABLE... I bought the cable based on the length and that it fits an Evinrude...

but today on my boats maiden voyage....the steering lock to lock doesnt urn the motor as far as it should go.

and when I turn around it takes a100 foot circle to do it!!

is there supposed to be a length of control for the MOVEMENT of the cable i should have looked at as well as the OVERALL length???

What type of steering head do you have? Did you by a cable to match the type o control head you have?

on the motor steering arm there are 2 holes, you should be connected to the one closest to the motor. if connected to the fartherest, it cuts down on the radius.

It doesnt seem like the inner hole would give me THAT much more stroke....but it might be decieveing me...I am going to try that this week for sure...

I have the motor that just came off my buddies pontoon boat it is an 88 spl. the arm was still on it and it is in the inner hole and the arm is the same length as mine!!

i have a teleflex helm and i bought the cables that go with it.

thanks
