Steering on top hull

The steering and all the wiring are attached to the top cap,I was thinking if I pulled the top cap off I would'nt have to remove the steering any suggestions?

Yes. I suggest that you tell us what boat you are talking about and what you plan to do with it.

It's a 1986 Hustler made by Shamar,a company out of Tennessee that no longer exists. No luck getting any information on it at all!!!

you need to remove the steering cable, helm can stay. you don't need cables flopping around when removing the cap.

Ayuh,.......

If you're going to split the boat apart,.....
You've got to disconnect Everything at 1 end or the other,.......

The motor end is usually Easier.......
