steering pull

Where does the little fin under the lower unit have to be set at to counteract the rotation of the prop? Forgot what that little doodad is called, I know it has to have some angle on it. My steering wheel has to be held at a slight right turn position to run boat straight at speed. Not that big of a deal, but little things bug me.

losen and turn it a little the way its pulling if the boat goes to right turn trim tab to right

If the boat pulls to starboard, move the rear of the trim tab to starboard. If the boat pulls to port, move the rear of the trim tab to port.

thanks for that info. I had bought a very nice lower unit after mine lost a seal and ate some gears. Bolted in on with no probs, but didnt take note of where the old one was set at.

Moved the tab to starboard as you guys suggested. Boat was pulling port. but after looking at this, by moving it to right, it would want make the stern go left thereby pushing the bow to right. Am I thinking this right? In any case, next trip to the lake, I will take the tools with me and adjust accordingly. I said tool(s) because my Doelfin bolts go thru the edge of plate on tab and they have to be loosened too.
