Hi guys, I have a 95 Starcraft 1709 Fish and Ski with a 95 Mariner 115Hp on it.
The steering cable was replaced new just before i bought it in 2006. Ever since then the steering has been functional and smooth but requires quite a bit of turning force when compared to my other boat with the same system. It has the Teleflex NFB Rack and pinion on it. I have checked the motor and it is free. I remove the cable from tilt tube and clean it out at the end of each season. I followed the cable run and found out the cable is too long and the routing looks like it is making it bind up at the right side of the transom before it goes to the motor. Do you guys think I should take the whole cable out and reroute? or should I replace the cable and helm with NFB rotary type? Your suggestions are appreciated.
