Steering slop

I have rebuilt my transom asy including my steering pin. I am on another forum and we have a back and forth discussion on moving the out drive side to side holding on to the foot. If the steering pin is bad, then I'd think if you grab the out drive at the top and push it side to side- but if that is good and you then grab at the foot and you can move it side to side, that's in the steering somewhere...is there any adjustment for that?

Brand spankin new cable, ram and transom assembly has play. Only way to get rid of it is to go with full hydraulic steering

You should watch the steering wheel - If it moves the slightest bit, then have someone hold the wheel.

By hydraulic I assume power steering which I have...and have thought of that ....will have to go somewhere and check while running...it does also wander a bit while underway in no wake zones...

Boat wander happens to all single screw V hull boats at no wake speed, no getting away from it

Ayuh,..... It really takes 3 people to truly find steering slop,.....

1 person at the wheel,.... 1 person at the drive,..... 'n 1 person to observe the slop points,.....

Step 1, the wheel is shaken, while the drive is held firm,......
Step 2, the wheel is held firm, 'n the drive is shaken,.....
As steps 1, 'n 2 are done, the 3rd person is lookin' at ALL the connections 'tween the wheel, 'n drive,.....

Once the slop is found, the appropriate parts are replaced,....
