I've got a 72 Johnson 65hp 65esl72s motor on my 1972 Starcraft Super Sport. The original trim tab was broken and causing a hard pull to the right(which I figured out after visiting then joining this forum). The original part number 0316961 is no longer made but part 0316981 is a perfect fit BTW. Anyway, I located, purchased and installed the steering trim tab and set it at 4 which is where the old tab was. The boat still pulls to the right a bit but not nearly as hard. Everything I've read says to turn the tab in the direction of the pull so I'd turn the rear of the tab to the right, correct? Alternatively, when fully trimmed up and looking at the bottom of the cavitation plate and tab I'd rotate the tab clockwise, correct? I know, I know, just experiment...but I'm 30 minutes from the lake and I'll have the family out with me tomorrow and I would like to streamline this process not start and stop the boat a hundred times and have the kids and wife bored out of their minds.
Thanks in advance,
