I have a Bayliner w/Cuddy Cabin and I'm trying to change the steering wheel. I've removed the cover, the lock nut and the washer. I cannot get the wheel off.... Does anybody have any knowledge of how to change the steering wheel?
(I thought this was going to be one of the easy things to do.. LOL)

Thanks..

It's a Tapered shaft,.......

Reinstall the nut, just on to where it's nearly flush with the end of the shaft,......
Grasp the wheel with both hands,+ apply pulling Pressure,...... Have somebody Smack the nut with a Hammer,.. 1 Good Blow will Usually Pop the wheel...........

Yep, do what Bondo said. When no third hand is available, I have done it by pushing my knees up under the wheel from the bottom while pulling on the wheel with one hand from top and swinging hammer with other hand.

When you re-assemble, a dab of grease will make it come off easier next time.
