searay 2001 AJ 29. need to adjust or repair steering wheel movement that allows wheel movement an inch or more in any direction.

Doubt it is the steering wheel that has the play being they are on a tapered shaft with a pretty hefty key and nut holding it in place.
More questions....rack and pinion or rotary?
