Steering wheel/shaft adaptors

Anyone know where I can get an adaptor that fits a 1" tapered steering shaft. My boat is a '59 Crestliner and it had an old Kainer Steering Wheel and I am wanting to convert to a stainless 3 spoke wheel. I have an adaptor, but it only fits a 3/4" shaft. I thought about just trying to bore this adaptor a little, but it may be a little tricky since they are tapered. Any help would be much appreciated.

You're trying to mount a 3/4" bored steering wheel on a 1" tapered shaft,...??...??..??....
Or,.....
Are you saying your Steering Wheel has changeable Hubs,..??..??.....

I'd have to Agree with TD,...... If the former.....

Is the adapter that you have something that would lend itself to being chucked up in a lathe? Boring it sounds good if enough material and you know the taper.

The adaptor is seperate from the steering wheel (steering wheel fastens to it with three bolts. Looks like it may be possible to chuck it in a lathe.

Sounds like it could be a plan. Does it need a keyway? That could make it a bit more complicated.

Yeah, that's the bad thing. It does need a keway. By then that adaptor may get a little thin. May have to consult a machine shop. I would have thought someone somewhere has an adapter that fits this thing. I will probably have to get pretty creative.

If the current shaft has a keyway, the adapter should also. Whoever does the machining can also cut the keyway.

Yeah, they both (adapter and shaft) have the same size keway. And a machinist should be able to cut it. The adapter will probably be getting a little thin by that point. I was thinking if I could at least get the hole in the adapter the right size, I could drill a hole straght through both (adapter and shaft) and put a roll pin or something like that in there if there is not enough thickness for a keway.
