My steering wheel has some play in it that I would like to remove. How do I do that? Otherwise, the wheel works fine. 1990 20' CC Aquasport w/Morse controls.

Re: Steering

You'll want to check the outboard itself to make sure there is no play in the yoke or tube. After that, need to know more about your rig.

Re: Steering

I have an outboard motor, Mercury 115, 1992. There is no problem at the motor. The only problem is the play at the wheel. The wheel is a little loose. Will tightening the nut in the wheel help?

Re: Steering

Siben, I am not an expert, but I have not seen an adjustment on the rack and pinon type cable steering systems. The nut in the center of the steering wheel simply holds the wheel on. You would need to find a bolt which would push the rack toward the pinon to make an adjustment. I have no experience with the rotary systems, however.
