First I want to send a big thank you to all on this forum. I have been fixing a 1991 Mercury 75 hp ELPTO with the help from this website.
While I was cleaning my carburetors, I saw that the stem gasket was missing on one of them. I have put them back together and the motor fires right up and idles fine.
My questions is what does the stem gasket do and can I run the motor without it for a short time.
