Re: Stereo Equipment

Heres the one I bought from ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170473887331&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Its a Sony CDX-H905IP. $159.00 Shipped and it came with a wired remote that I mounted in the front of my bow so I can change stations, tracks or volume when I'm sitting up front.
It also came with a wireless remote that I dont even use.
It is waterproof and it controls an ipod with an attached 9 foot ipod cable. Thats how I use it, with the ipod sitting in the glove box. So far I am impressed with it, though the ipod navigation isnt as easy as the alpine in my car. But for the boat, its just fine. I usually set it to 'random' and let it go.

If you dont want or have use for the wired remote you can find the radio alone for about $20 cheaper on ebay.

I have the same head unit and wired remote although I installed mine at the back by the ladder. I believe this was Sony's best marine unit in 2008 and I'm very happy with mine.

Re: Stereo Equipment

how much larger than 1-DIN is that head unit? Mine's tucked away in the glove box, that's probably space for it but just want to confirm. That's a sharp price on ebay.

Edit: does it work with Iphone and or charge ipod?

Re: Stereo Equipment

Sorry, not sure about the IPhone. Heres what I found on crutchfield:
The CDX-H905IP is compatible with the following iPod models:
?3rd Generation iPod (Ver.2.3.0)
?4th Generation iPod (Ver.3.1.1)
?5th Generation iPod (Ver.1.2) (no video function)
?iPod photo (Ver.1.2.1) (no photo function)
?iPod mini (Ver.1.4.1)
?1st Generation iPod nano (Ver.1.3)
?2nd Generation iPod nano (Ver.1.1)
Notes: While not listed as compatible, full functionality was confirmed for the iPod touch, 3rd Gen iPod nano, and iPod classic.

Heres the crutchfield link:
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_158H905IP/Sony-CDX-H905iP.html?search=CDXH905IP&ssi=0&tp=1721

As far as size, it fits in a standard single din cutout, but the face is a little bigger than most single din radios.
Dimensions: The receiver has the following dimensions:

?Chassis Width: 7.097"
?Chassis Height: 2.029"
?Chassis Depth: 5.962"
?Nose Width: 7.773"
?Nose Height: 3.576"
?Nose Depth: 1.892"
