Re: Stereo installation

I have the Alpine and the pioneer. The remote wire on the alpine has to be fused, it is not meant for 12 volts. The pioneer is supposed to be fused too, but for some reason it will work if it is not. I put the pioneer in my boat too and it works fine. Make sure not to get it wet!

Re: Stereo installation

Thanks for the info, twista_02. But if it's not meant for 12 Volts, then what is it made for? Mine had a built-in fuse, in addition to my installed inline fuse. Can you elaborate on this?

Re: Stereo installation

I'm not sure what he means by the "remote wire" If he is refering to the remote turn on lead ( some headunits have this seperate from the power antennae lead). It is an output wire from the head unit to turn on acc. like external amplifiers, equalizers, and such. It is simply connected to the remote turn on lead of the device. If your not installing external amps or something of the like, simply tape the wire so as too not cause a short and don't worry about connecting it. :)

twista...."all" pioneer radios from 85 to current need a pull down resister in-line with the power lead to turn the power relay up....is this what you mean ?
