No I'm not serious, but what is a good food to give your crawlers to make em big and healthy? I have been using salad scraps. Any Ideas?

Oatmeal. Just dry oatmeal and then water the top a little to soften it. I have also used the dry rice ceral for babies as we had a lot of it handy because my girls did not like it but it was cheap at the time.

I keep a large Worm Keeper in an old refrigerator in the garage. A couple of hours before going fishing I'll sprinkle a little cornmeal on top of them. I've kept them a couple of months this way. Guess it works. Happy Fishing, Hal.

Re: Steroids for Night crawlers

SS, My neighbors when I was a kid were the biggest fishing family ever. They did not have a boat for many years, but would come home with one of those floating fish baskets full (I mean no more fish would fit inside). They were either fishing or hunting any chance they could get.

Sorry, I got off track. The Dad kept a 4' x 4' x 1' painted box in his garage. It was filled with leaves and some soil to keep the leaves breaking down. I know he did put some other vegetable scraps in there, but not much. The worms were always healthy and ready to go. They would pull the box out from underneath the bench pull out a a few dozen crawlers and they were on their way. By staying in the garage (unattached), they stayed at a good temp all the time. He even left them there in the winter and they stayed well. I have thought of doing this in my carriage house since crawlers are so expensive around here.
