Stick steering question

As you can see, there's not much room between the console and the seat. I'm 6'1". This isn't going to work. With a little modification of the cap, I could move the console forward. I could also free up a lot of deck space by ditching the console and installing stick steering. All of the product literature I keep finding talks about stick steering in the context of sitting up front. Assuming I can reach the controls on both sides, is there and problem locating stick help further aft?

i have had mine in the front, and middle seat, i like middle seat best. it distributes the load better when alone. iboats sells the mounting bracket.
