Sticking float? (1974 50HP 4 cyl Merc.)

Twice when I have hit the wake of other boats at speed and recieved a significant jolt, my motor slows to the point that the boat drops off plane. The first time it happened, I was able to squeeze the fuel bulb and pressurize the line enought to pop it free, the second time It fixed itself after I shut the motor off. I recently rebuilt the carbs, including new needles and seats, and adjusted the floats. Thoughts?

So I am not sure how to read your symptoms. Did it happen Before of AFter you rebuilt the carbs? How did you set the floats?

It's happened after rebuilding the carbs. Before rebuilding I couldn't get up on plane! I set the carbs per specs, (1/4"). I guess the obvious solution is to slow down when I encounter wakes...
