Stiff throttle on 95 50hp jet drive Yammy

My thottle and fast idle are much stiffer when compared to my buddies boats. There boats are newer so I was wondering if I should replace my control cables for throttle and fast idle. Would that help any or is this control just supposed to be stiff like this?

Also, my control is a 703 Yamaha remote.

I agree sound like cables to me.
Check in any of the exposed areas of the cables. Ex where they go into the motor from the remote. Also any slight bends seems to be where troubles lie.


Also if there is any places to put grease on, which there should be check those too.
I just had to replace the shifter cables on my 25 yammi pretty easy to do wrench screwdriver and a bit o patience.

Its probley cables but did tou check the friction screw on the remote

Yup! also disconnect cables at engine and see if controls free up.

I did adjust this, but I couldn't tell any difference. I'll check the cables and see what I find out. Thanks for the input.
