Advantage Q is said to be designed specifically for 4 strokes.

Re: Stiletto Advantage Q

The Quest and the Advantage Q are pretty much the same prop and have less rake compared to the Turbo 1 small hub or the Advantage. They (Turbo & Stiletto) have associated them to be 4 stroke specific but you'll see them get away from that in the future. They are more suited to fairly heavy situations where pushing is important. The 4 strokes, with their (usually) lower gear ratios, can indeed use the standard Turbo 1 small hub or the Advantage with no issues.

Given the choices listed we'd opt for the Stiletto Advantage 13 1/4 x 17. As always, a lot depends on your set up, load and intended use. Consider the Yamaha performance bulletins a very general guideline rather than something set in stone.

Generally speaking yes, that's correct.

Generally speaking marine motors are setup for a very rich mixture. Keeps them cool under high rpm and prevents detonation. They are not subject to epa guide lines so...why not for longevity

Id be surprised if they ran higher than 10.1. I havnt stuck my nose to deep in outboards...But id assume its very much the same people seem to run there O/B much harder than I/Os and they hold up quite well.

Re: Stiletto Advantage Q

Manufacturers do indeed focus on prop efficiency and intended use. In the past number of years props have become very specific. There are props made for general purpose and purpose specific props. Props made for planing hulls, non-planing hulls, props with bow lift, stern lift or overall lift. There are props from the same manufacturer that are made for pad bottom hulls and different props made for air entrapment hulls even if both hulls target the same speed. There are props made to run at a higher X dimension than others.

Case in point are the Stilettos you mentioned. The Advantage Q has less rake than the Advantage which makes it a better choice on a heavily loaded hull. The Advantage with more rake makes it a better choice for your application.

"Back in the day" an engine manufacturer offered, for instance, only one 17" prop for a given engine size. No matter if that motor went on a planing hull, a barge or a pontoon. Those days are long gone thankfully.
