Too bad I already put my boat away for the winter. Now I will have to wait till spring to see what results I get from the bay pro II. But maybe over the winter I will find an awesome deal on one

Winter sucks for sure... iboats store has the BP II's for $410 with free shipping. ;)

Re: Stiletto prop or not???

18' 6" wellcraft with V6 Buick
Turbo1: 2.7secs time to plane, 4.9secs 0-40, 53.2 top-end.
Mirage +: 3.1 secs time to plane, 5.3secs 0-40, 49.7 top-end
Both 21P, stock.
75 rpm more on the T1.
This is the T1-not the prop that would be better suited to the load of the heavier boat.
The 14-1/4" dia. T1 will run on heigth adjustable engines, higher than most 14-1/2 to 15" props.....not the rule of thumb but a result of the design.

Intersting... what horsepower V6 and what gear ratio in the drive?... I'm guessing the engine was running 4900+/- rpm with both props?

I don't have my lap top tonight but I do remember the rpm at about 5100 with the T1.
I'll get you the ratio when I can get back to my Data files tomorrow.

Re: Stiletto prop or not???

O.k so now I'm intrigued, I tried the Revolution 4 on my 1999 LS1850 Capri with 4.3l Mercruiser and pulled out the hole in between 2 to 3 secs (closer to 2 I think) with 3 adults and a child on board and 2 kids in tow on a tube.
With 3 adults and 2 kids I had a top end of 53mph at 5150rpm (over revving I know). So if I was to look at the Stiletto to maintain similar performance or better are we saying the 20P stiletto is the way to go. From what I understand although the pitch and diameter is reduced the lift is increased so I'm planing higher in the water, less resistance, more top end and the reduced pitch will give me better hole shot?

The 20P is the right prop or would you recommend the 18 or 22P? I suspect the 18 is going to run me to the rev limiter if I dial it open and not give me as good a top end but the 22 would bring my peak revs back into reality but drop my hole shot.

Walleyehed or Tail gunner, you wouldn't want to speculate which prop to go for and what sort of hole shot and top end speed I could expect? Won't hold you to it....

Right now I'm not going as fast as I want.... My labbed prop was damaged and the top end isn't the same with the stock M+. Next season when I get the prop back I'll have some numbers for you.

Geez, don't pay that much. Look around the internet first...I bought two of them this past year for considerably less.

Although this IS a free site, it IS owned by iboats...and yes, there "might" be a better deal out there but I can tell you there is NOT any better customer service available.
AND...Iboats is authorized to sell Stiletto....Few places have OEM backing should you need service...iboats has it.
Hopefully you didn't have to buy 2 because the first was the wrong pitch and they wouldn't take it back....this would be an increase in price for the right prop.:)

I don't want to say anything bad about iboats because I do buy from them and think it is a great site and great place to buy, but I bought the first prop from iboats and they would not take it back because it was a special sale (clearance). I sold it on ebay and bought another one from a different vendor for quite a bit cheaper.

I would very much appreciate a detailed report after you run it.

I have a 19' boat that also has a 5.0L (220hp) engine. It will run 53mph (GPS) at 4850rpm with two on board using a Michigan Wheel 14 & 1/4 x 21 Aluminum prop. Our boat weighs 2550lbs with a 21deg deadrise according to Glastron, and although it has a nice holeshot with a light load, I would like to improve it when the boat has six or more on board.

It would appear from what I read on the Stiletto Bay Pro II that it would do this, and perhaps with its stern lifting reputation only lose a small amount of top end. The outdrive ratio is 1.6 on our Volvo outdrive, which I would think is similar to your Merc.

Does anyone know what Stiletto's homepage is?

I will definatly post an update when I run with it. Probably be a few months though. I dont think Stiletto has a homepage. Or at least I have not been able to find one.

Re: Stiletto prop or not??? UPDATE!!!!

Re: Stiletto prop or not??? UPDATE!!!!

Ok ran with the bay pro II last weekend. much better hole shot and cornering. I got the same speed (speedo not gps 50 +/ -) with the same or a little less (100 +/ -) rpms. Only thing is I can over rev it. On the engine it says 4200 - 4600 rpms and I can push it a little past 4600. So I figured I just wouldent do that and be ok since it works so good.

Of course its going to take off better if your over-revving... its called being under-propped. Should've got the Rev 4... ;)

If you running a bit past 4600 with a light load then with a few more people on board it will probably be perfect. Sounded like pulling power and low speed planing was more important to you than top speed anyway. Just watch your max rpm when lightly loaded at WOT.

I also bought this prop but haven't been able to run it yet due to poor weather and a death in the family.

That is what I was thinking.
