Re: still doesn't pump water
Samo_ott, has brought up some good points, read his post well.
Couple of things to consider.
- If you are testing this in a barrel then make very sure the water is almost to (4 to 6 inches below) the exhaust relief hole where some of the water and exhaust come out.
- If you think the old key to impeller is worn, then replace it.
- There is a good chance that when you where sliding the lower unit back on the water tube did not go in the water tube grommet (part number #10 in the diagram).
- Was the old impeller broken? If it was then some of the bits could have gotten lodged in the water tube or in the water jackets around the cylinders.
- Remover your thermostat cover and check your thermostat and make sure it is functional and not covered with lime like stuff that will keep it from opening. After taking the thermostat out some members have used a garden hose with a thin spout on the end and inserted the spout in or close enough to flushed out the jackets and also the water tube. (Just a couple of suggestions) ** If you damage the thermostat cover gasket then replace it and retorque the bolts.
- Check the lower unit where the water enters that is not caked up with mud or sludge or plastic that is causing the water pump not to get water.
Others may have some other suggestions or advice.
Here is an electronic parts diagram for your motor.
