Still no spark...

This is my third post so far about my 1996 225 Johnson Ocean Pro. The engine has no spark. I repaired a broken corroded wire between the stator and the power pack (brown/black). I ran all of the igintions tests in my book and everything seems to be fine. I am wondering of the problem maybe in the kill switch. When the key is in the run position with the kill switch in the run position, the purple wire reads 12 volts which leads to the power pack. With the swtich in the off position, the black/yellow wire reads 12 volts. I feel this is correct, but not sure? I have been told to pull the flywheel and visually examine the stator, if the stator looks and tests fine, then replace the power pack? I would really appreciate someone's help.

Re: Still no spark...

In all the OMC/BRP outboards I have worked on,the blackyellow wire is grounded when the key or kill switch is off (no run position). Are you reading 12 volts POSITIVE on the blackyellow lead in off position?
If so,something is wired wrong,or possibly the cable between the dash and engine is faulty. Also you should be able to disconnect the boat harness and crank at the solenoid for testing spark. This eliminates the boat wiring.

DHP

Maybe the contacts in the ignition switch have fused? Have you tried disconnecting the big red main plug and jumping the starter?
Sorry DHP - Like you suggested. Next time I'll read the whole thread.
