Does anybody know how much amperage draw should show on the negative battery cable while engine is running , with know accessories on. I am showing 1.5- 1.7 amps. I have been told it should it should be Zero.

If I bring my battery voltage down to the low 12 volts before starting, I charge at about 14.5 volts until the battery get up to around 13 plus volts then it starts showing a charge of about 16 volts. Doesn't that sound backwards. Just like the more accessories I have on the lower the charge.

I don't know what the amp. on the negative connection is all about or what you are trying to ck for? In 88 135 engines came with a 9 or 16 amp. unregulated alt. although they could only pot out so many amps 9 or 16 the could put out extra voltage, it depended on battery size and condition + clean connections. Because of the accessories pulling amps from the system when turned on they act as more load and show less volts in the system--Bob

I do have a voltage regulator, its sits just behind the flywheel, 2X2inches two terminals one red wire to rectifier one yellow wire to rectifier.
