Cleaned carbs last week and boat wants to take off. But now it vibrates at full throttle and kicks up water as if trimmed all the way up. My question is. Can the shaft be to short? How do I tell if I need a longer shaft? Its not equiped with power t/t. 1974 evinrude 70 hp. model #70472 standard length.

What does the transom measure? Is the tilt pin all the way in (towards boat)? Have you tried another prop?

Let us know!

The anti-cavatation plate is 8 inches higher than the bottom of the hull with the trim pin all the way in( the first hole from the hull). The transom height is 21 " from the top to the bottom of the hull. I measured it from the middle. How do you measure the shaft? I beleive this is the problem. It rooster tail at full throttle.

The cav plate should be even with the bottom of the boat, you need a long shaft, or lower you motor (although you probably don't have 8" of adjustment) :(

Any suggestion? Names of places where I can buy an extension kit.
