Stinky Engine Compartment

I have a 29' Bayliner. I have the smell of sewage in the engine compartment, which comes from some where around the sewage holding tank. All my hose conections are good, there is no actual sewage in the bilge, and the vent seems to be clogged free. Even when I pump out the holding tank, I can still smell it. I have tryed a few products to put down the toilet to combat the smell, but it doesn't seem to work. Is it possible that I need to completely change the holding tank, and hoses to fix my problem? Or is there a product I don't know about that will once and for all get rid of that smell.

Dump a bottle of Febreeze in the bilge. Maybe that'll help. Less than five bucks to try.

The hoses have had the sewage permeate them.It happens to all holding tank set ups that have not had the hoses updated. There are new types of hoses that dont permeate. You can however get a quick fix that may last the season if you are lucky.Flush a few gallons of bleach down the head after pumping out the holding tank.Let it sit in the tank for at least 15 minutes. Then turn on the maceraror.Wait another 15 minutes and put a few gallons of water in the system to flush out the bleach residue.I would then put a bio active type of holding tank treatment in the tank and that should keep things good for the season.Let me know how this works.I have done this with good results

Jeeperman, I don't believe there is an engine compartment intake
