If your Lund has plastic gas tank/s it could be out gassing or permeation through the plastic. I work for a power sport manufacturing company and we use plastic gas tanks on the machines that we build. We do testing on the plastic gas tanks to measure how much permeation of gasoline vapor escapes the tank over a specified time and temperature.
The test amounts to filling the tanks with gasoline and weighing them, they are then placed in a test chamber with controlled temperature and after specific time intervals they are removed and weighed again to determine how much is escaping.
Until the last few years, I do not know if this permeation level was regulated, but I believe it is now.
