stock compression of a Ficht outboard

I saw an add for a Ficht engine on ebay, but compression was listed as 150-160 psi. By conventional 2 stroke standards that's quite high. Do Ficht and other direct injection engines run much higher compression than carb'd models ?

Beware of both Ficht and Ebay. Especially Ficht.

Re: stock compression of a Ficht outboard

the 150s and up yes, if made before Bombadier took over. I'm looking at 115s as a less expensive repower. They were not a problem, but the reputation of Ficht should make for good bargains. If they haven't blown by now should be good ones. The compression of most 2st seem to be 100-120 psi, so the #s the add stated sounded fishy and I passed, but I doubt you could have so much carbon build up to get 150 psi on all 4 cylinders. Do Ficht engines run 4st like compressions ?

Don't know about Ficht, but my '85 140 measured ` 140 to 150 psig. BTW, there are no published compression number for OMC/BRP motors.

Motorcycle and most Jetski motors run 110-125 stock. Seadoos can run 150 psi stock, though you'd never get 500 hrs on one without a rebuild. 140-150 psi on a motor running regular gas and that will last a couple of thousand hours is astounding to me !
