Stolen Boat - SE Louisiana

Please take a look at the following Craigslist ad - this boat was stolen in New Orleans last night. The boat and trailer are custom made, and would be difficult to sell locally, so they will probably either show up in a couple of days, or be sold elsewhere. My guess is that the thieves were after the motor, because we don't have titles for them here in Louisiana and they are a lot easier to sell.

Although this post is directed mostly towards the iboaters in SE Louisiana/Mississippi gulf coast area, a sharp lookout by all within a few hundred miles would be most appreciated!

There is a contact number for the owner in the Craigslist ad.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck...I live near 1-10 and I will keep my eyes open for it when I travel I 10 west of trinity bay, charlie (nice lookin rig)

nice rig, between the motor and scraping the aluminum, could be a nice haul for them. they will not scrap it in FL, they now have to prove where it came from. since the theif of copper for AC unit.

Same here, TD. We have had terrible problems with people stealing copper and other materials because of all the reconstruction since Hurricane Katrina. They even hit the same structures more than once - one newly opened hair salon had the copper tubing stolen from its brand new central AC unit, and then stolen again after the insurance covered a new one.

The scrap yards here now require a government issued picture ID, and in some cases, contractor status. I think they are doing that if the items that the person is trying to sell, are obviously building materials.
