Stop switch/lanyard

Hey folks while out today I caught the safety lanyard and accidentally pulled while trolling along. The thing is, it took maybe 5 seconds or so to shut down. And this seems like about 4 seconds too long to me. Is this the norm for Nissan/Tohatsu engines? If not, is the switch something that can be taken apart and maybe cleaned? It does work, just not nearly fast enough for my tastes.

Thanks,
Skidz

That's not normal. Sounds like your switch is sluggish. Possibly cruddy, stiff grease or gunk in it, or stiff rubber where the plunger protrudes. You can install a new switch: 3D5068700M SAFETY SWITCH WITH LANYARD $47.73, available from any dealer, including me.

Thanks Paul. I got P/N 353068210 when I looked it up, is your number an updated version or replacement?

Radio Shack and some auto parts stores have electric/electronic spray cleaners/conditioners that work quite well on contact switches, tuners and rheostats, Ive used it many times and it does wonders for sticky and failing switches...........Don in Redondo

Thanks guys. I pulled and cleaned it; it had some gunk built up inside. Works correctly now.
