Stopped In ICW while crusing at about 5 Knots

Evinrude 1998 175 Ficht.<br />Engine stopped as if you just turned the key off while cruising the ICW at Clearwater FL. Safety cable to key switch does not appear to be the problem. Have good gas and all fuses are in tact. Seems as though I have no spark. Engine cranks and all Light indicators show no trouble. Doesn't even sound like it will try to start while cranking. $270.00 Bucks to get towed to shore. I hate that.<br /><br />Art

Safety cable to key switch does not appear to be the problem

I am by no means an expert but would make sure the those parts are not cuasing the problem. I'm sure others with better know how will add comments

Need to perform a spark test and determine whether you have no spark,weak spark ,etc..<br />Then we can go from there.

1st....get tow insurance....about $120 annually...$270 BUCKS!!!

Whatever happened to folks towing each other in just to be neighborly? Ever since I was a kid we would to tow people in who were having a bit of trouble. <br />Mac

Don't have a lot of equipment with me but I am sure I can check for Spark.<br />Will get back on line when I see if there is any fire on the plugs. <br />Art

Giving up on fixing the 175 in Florida.<br />Looks like a main Processor problem.<br />Will take boat back to Wisconsin and have my dealer look at it.<br />thanks<br /><br />Art

A Wisconsin boat, in Florida waters, sounds like thermal shock to me. Kind of like the culture shock I get everytime I cross into Illinois. <br /><br />Tow insurance Yeah, that will do you a lot of good back here in WI.
