storage cover prop pole question

I ordered a westland sharkskin cover for my boat, along with a prop rod to keep the water out. On the end of the rod is a little round 1/2" tip, but on the bottom of the cover there isn't a reinforcement for the pole, shouldn't there be?

On my covers there is a rienforcment sewn into the cover where the pole goes and has a snap in it that mates with the top of the pole. But it is also a different brand of cover.

that's what I expected to find, without a reinforcement I don't think the cover will last long, I did remove the tip so it's not so pointy though

I have one of those and it is great..Is a little frustrating at 1st to put it on and get everything worked out length wise but it is great.. Before I had a tube on the front so water would run off and a single pole in the middle... Now this handles both problems, takes only a few minutes to put up and stores anywhere when not in use...

Re: storage cover prop pole question

I have used one the past couple of years. while they are better than nothing, water can still pool up either at the bow end or right near the stern so its not perfect by any means.
I stretch two pieces of pvc pipe across the open bow on my bowrider to provide more support so water does not pool up there.

my new covers being made will have separate bow and cockpit sections snapped in place and will have a support pole and snap both in the bow and stern section.

it's a pretty small boat, 14' but what I got was this guy

it only came with the pointy thing on the far right, guess I should have grabbed what you linked :(

I really don't think this cover will make it but a couple seasons from the feel of it anyway I guess

Cut a square of carpet and set (or glue) it to the end of the pole. That is more protection than I got with my Taylor Made pole and strap kit....

Happy boating!
