People that have never learned to drive a 4000#+ rear wheel drive car, will never learn to drive in ice and snow. Even if their vehicle is awd, alb, traction control, etc.

Yup Roscoe, You have a point, (probably the reason I wait to use the 4X4 until I need it). Front wheel drive cars pull ya in the direction ya want ta go so you can get over confident. A real wheel drive, (or a conventional 4X4 in 2X4 does keep a person aware of the conditions). If you are drivin' a front wheel drive or AWD the stopping conditions can bite ya as you think the stoping is just as good as your traction, (which most times it is not).JR

You got that right.
My first winter in Wisconsin was spent driving a 65 Ford Galaxy. :% After figuring out how to drive that monster on ice & snow, my little FWD Hyundai is a piece of cake. 8)

Maybe not, I dunno what it weighed, 'course he, (Roscoe), coulda jus' been putin' a 'ball park' figure for weight n' all, (ta make a point which I n' others seem to agree with). I jus' thought a hillbelly Gnat drivin' a '56 Chevvy, (ya know Detroit Iron n' all), jacked up in the arse end, (which probably didn't help traction), with dual exhaust n' all was a good picture for ya there BB! 8)8)

Only chained her up once, (when I couldn't get by the law forcin' people to chain up at the pass, [I usually would roll right past 'em]). Station wagons have real good traction, n' I had studded snow tires on her. She would go zzzzzzzzzzzz on a 'powershift' 'tween 2nd n' 3rd when I wasn't behavin' n' racin' n' all when the pavement was dry. (Never jacked her up in the arse when I was drivin' in snow). JR
